About me I have been involved in woodwork for most of my life. At an early age I began to appreciate the natural properties of wood and its many variations and uses. Following a woodworking course with Fas in Athlone I attended Galway Technical Institute where I graduated with a Certificate in Furniture Making and Design. I have a great love and belief in Irish hardwoods, they bring out the true natural beauty of wood and give an excellent finish. Unlike the stable properties of manmade fiber, natural wood changes and expands with climate conditions. I hope to continue to craft Quality furniture for a long time to come. About my work My pieces are intended to harmonize with your environment, as well as our environment. I use native Irish (as far as possible) sustainably harvested hardwoods. No plywood, particle board or toxic chemicals. In the long run and most important, a well built piece that lasts 100 years is always preferable to one that can be bought at 25% of the price but must be replaced every few years. Individually built Why invest in furniture from a one-man craft shop? Certainly my pieces can’t compete with mass produced factory made furniture. The factory caters for the average needs of the average consumer. I construct each piece individually taking enough time to achieve perfection. My clients value finely constructed furniture and appreciate the beauty of solid wood. Joy is in the details that makes the difference.
